New exhibition brings replicas of prehistoric sea giants to MorumbiShopping

Replicas of crocodiles, squid, sharks and scary fish like the Lakumasaurus from the Cretaceous period are being exhibited in real size in MorumbiShopping between Feb 25 and March 27. During the period, the shopping center is bringing to São Paulo the international exhibition "Marine Giants", never before seen in the city, with free entry for the public. A total of 16 replicas are on display in the Atrium, with some of them up to 10 meters long, as well as reproductions of fossils and pieces of skeletons of animals that belong to the period when dinosaurs roamed the planet. The replicas represent the fossils of the animals found in the sea and on land in regions of Brazil, Argentina and Colombia that were previously covered by an ocean.

The exhibition combines science, culture and entertainment and has the support of the Fundación de Historia Natural Félix de Azara, based in Argentina, which promotes the natural and anthropological sciences. "The purpose of the Marine Giants exhibition is to encourage public participation, stimulating curiosity in paleontology and disseminating the work of researchers in the field, who preserve our continent's riches," explained MorumbiShopping's marketing manager, Katia Ardito Gandini.

The exhibition features explanatory totems offering information about the species on display, the period to which they belong, their regions and habits. Visitors can learn more about animals such as the Kronosaurus, a large carnivore that weighed up to eight tons, in addition to the archaeological sites where the excavations revealed the fossils and skeletons.
