Once again, Multiplan's malls were standouts in the ABRASCE Awards 2018 (reflecting the best initiatives in 2017). Seven projects from the company's shopping centers were winners in different categories, with three receiving a gold trophy. The awards ceremony was held on August 14. In addition, the event reinforces the importance of industry as an agent of transformation of the country’s social, environmental and economic reality.

In the "New Projects" category, ParkShopping Canoas, in Canoas (RS), won Gold with the "ParkShopping Canoas - the most fantastic shopping mall in the country" initiative. The case presents a new shopping mall concept. Fully integrated with its outdoors areas, facing a fully revitalized park and with several fun and leisure options for all ages, ParkShopping Canoas was conceptualized by Multiplan to be the country’s most fantastic shopping mall. "It is a revolutionary and unprecedented project in the country that includes nature, services, entertainment and commerce linked in a single venture. It has been a successful project since its inauguration,"  said Marco Aurélio Jardim, Regional Director of Multiplan.

In the "Team Management" category, RibeirãoShopping, in Ribeirão Preto (SP), won Gold with its "Retail Club" project. Developed to be a bridge between major sales trends and shopkeepers, the initiative addresses different themes throughout the year, involving owners, vendors, and other store professionals. The Retail Club today is a multidisciplinary platform that involves research, incentive programs, hidden customer actions, distance learning, consulting and tenant relations. "Over four years ago, we started with 47 shopkeepers and ended 2017 with more than 700 shopkeepers in our events center," said Marcos Botelho, Marketing Manager at RibeirãoShopping.

In the "Expansion and Revitalization" category, Gold was once again won by RibeirãoShopping for its "RibeirãoShopping Medical Center" case history. The new medical center aims to meet the need of the region to concentrate in one place consultations, diagnoses and treatment, all with great comfort, convenience, agility and technology. "This is an innovative project that is already changing the medical life of the city of Ribeirão Preto," said José Celani, Development Director of Multiplan.

In the same category, the Pátio Savassi, in Belo Horizonte (MG), won the Silver with the project "Second Expansion of Pátio Savassi". In November 2016, the mall went through its second expansion, planned to house two new anchors, Verdemar and Renner. The project added 6,400 m² of constructed area, being 2,300 m² of Gross Leasable Area (GLA), in addition to 95 new parking spaces.

In the "Marketing and Promotions of Events" category, BarraShoppingSul, in Porto Alegre (RS), won Silver for the "Re.movies" project, an open-air movie theater in the mall’s parking lot. The event brought together companies in a chain of good to benefit children in situations of social vulnerability with eye exams and donation of grade glasses. In "Marketing and Promotions of Christmas Events," BarraShopping, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), received Silver for the "The greatest Christmas in Rio" case history. The initiative included the largest Christmas tree in the capital of Rio de Janeiro, as well as raffles and thematic presentations with international artists.

ParkShopping Canoas was also the winner in the "Newton Rique Sustainability" category, receiving the Bronze for the "ParkShopping Canoas Sustainability" case history, which presents the choice of more modern concepts and technologies for the use of energy, lighting and integration with the environment. The mall features the largest photovoltaic plant ever built on a mall in South America. It has trees with solar panels, its own sewage treatment plant, lighting fixtures using LED bulbs, "low-e" glass and reuses rainwater. All of these characteristics have already qualified the project to receive the pre-certification of the LEED seal of approval, which recognizes its high standard of sustainability.

Congratulations to all the winning malls!
