October is the month dedicated to breast cancer prevention actions, the second most recurrent type of the disease in Brazilian women. With a view to raising awareness, Multiplan's malls have promoted a series of events aimed at debating the issue. Check out the schedule:
ParkShoppingSãoCaetano supported the Pink Walk, in partnership with the City Hall, the São Caetano do Sul Social Solidarity Fund, the Brazilian Society of Mastology, the municipality's Women's Cancer Fighting Network and the Arts Foundation. The event was held October 27, at Parque Chico Mendes, and arrived the Espaço Cerâmica Tom Jobim Park. In addition, the mall's façade was illuminated in pink throughout the month and the service staff and shopkeepers wore pink lace brooches, the symbol of the campaign.
RibeirãoShopping put on the Pink Parade, with the theme “The beauty and strength of women in the control of breast cancer.” Some18 women were attended by REMA, the Center for Teaching, Research and Assistance in the Rehabilitation of Mastectomized Women, at USP's Ribeirão Preto College of Nursing (EERP USP). Participation in the parade was free and took place on October 14. The mall's façade also was lit in pink, and the mall's employees wore a pink bow pin during October.
BarraShoppingSul hosted a free chat by the Rio Grande do Sul Breast Institute (IMAMA), with the aim of reinforcing the importance of prevention and early diagnosis. Participants included journalist Rosane Marchetti, physician Maíra Caleffi, president of IMAMA and three patients who had already faced the disease. The goal was to draw attention to each type of treatment. The event was free of charge and took place on October 24. In addition, the mall was lit up with pink.
ParkShoppingCanoas promoted the ParkShopping Run on October 20, and pink t-shirts were distributed in support of the cause. In addition, the Christmas tree inaugurated in October at the Parque Getúlio Vargas - integrated to the mall - also was to be lit in pink.
ParkShoppingBarigüi promoted a dance class in support of Pink October on October 13, with teacher Aline Maia.
The BarraShopping,NewYorkCityCenter, VillageMall, BH Shopping, Patio Savassi, DiamondMall, ParkShopping and ShoppingAnáliaFranco projects were part of the movement and lighted their façades in pink or had employees wear campaign symbol ribbons during the month of October.
