One year after inaugurating the first photovoltaic plants designed to full meet the supply of the VillageMall shopping center’s electricity needs, Multiplan now will also power its headquarters in Rio de Janeiro through solar energy. The new plant, built by SolarGrid and located in Paty de Alferes (RJ), will be responsible for 100% of the headquarters supply. The project contributes to the environment and should generate for Multiplan annual reductions of approximately 80% of its headquarters energy expenses.

With 2,460 photovoltaic modules and a maximum power rating of 900 kWp (kilowatt-peak), the complex will avoid the emission of 154 tons of CO2 per year - equivalent to the planting of 15,600 trees in 25 years. The Company forecasts that the investment of more than R$ 4 million will be offset by electric power savings in up to five years.

“Sustainability and concern for the environment always have been important issues for us, as we plan our projects with a long-term vision. The inauguration of the plant that supplies our headquarters is another step in this direction and also reflects our permanent striving for environmental and economic sustainability, which translates into a positive and lasting impact for the company and for the whole of society,” says Armando d'Almeida Neto, Multiplan's Vice President of Finance and Investor Relations.

With the construction of yet another complex, Multiplan reaffirms its commitment to the search for clean and renewable energy sources. VillageMall, in Rio de Janeiro was the first mall in Latin America capable of producing 100% of the energy it consumes. Its solar park, built in partnership with EDP, completed a year in operation in June and already has avoided the emission of almost 15,000 tons of CO2, equivalent to the planting of 28,000 trees. In addition, in 12 months, the plant generated 16.3 gigawatt-hours (GWh). The cost of generating this energy is 49% lower than the cost of energy in the regulated market, which is equivalent to savings of R$ 5.9 million.
