In order to promote a sustainable environment and improve the connection with the local community, ShoppingSantaÚrsula, in Ribeirão Preto (SP), inaugurated a community garden in the area outside the shopping center development, on Prudente de Morais Street.

At the inauguration, the Projeto Feliz idade - a partnership between the shopping center and the Oficina do Cuidado that provides free activities for the elderly - gave a special course in which the attendees learned how to cultivate, as well as harvesting and gardening techniques.

The organic garden began with 16 species of spices and 11 varieties of fruit trees, and the intention is that the residents of the surroundings and customers of ShoppingSantaÚrsula can grow other kinds of vegetables, monitor the growth of plants and maintain the collective space.

In addition to the elderly, there is also a project focused on children, so they can have contact with nature and learn about healthy eating from a very young age. The performances of the Teatro e Magias Musicadas, by the Melancia Group, every Saturday at 6pm, will explain the children the importance of the garden.
