Since 2011, Multiplan's shopping malls have been engaging in animal adoption campaigns. In all editions of the fairs, organized by entities in São Paulo and Minas Gerais, more than 600 animals have already been given new homes.

Called "Adopt an Underdog," MorumbiShopping's event in São Paulo is already in its 16th edition. Rescued from situations of neglect by various NGO partners, the project's dogs became famous by starring in fun photo shoots on the dogmodels.morumbishopping.com.br website, which encourages the adoption of animals.

In partnership with the Luiza Mell Institute, ShoppingAnáliaFranco in São Paulo, and ParkShoppingSãoCaetano in São Caetano do Sul (SP) also recently promoted actions for the adoption of animals. In addition to finding a home for dogs and cats that have been the victims of abuse, rejection and abandonment, the event featured the institute’s little shop — named “Adotei” (I’ve Adopted) — that sells products such as t-shirts and bandanas. Revenues from the sale of the products goes 100% to finance its animal care activities.

This year, ShoppingSantaÚrsula in Ribeirão Preto also joined the project to encourage the adoption of animals. For the first time, "Pet Week" was held, featuring a free, special program focusing on the universe of pets: a marriage and parade of small and medium-sized dogs, lectures, workshops, contests and drawings for hundreds of gifts, among other attractions. Also organized was a collection of food for the CãoPaixão and Focinhos NGOs that care for abandoned animals.

In Belo Horizonte (MG), in July,  Pátio Savassi ran its sixth edition of the AMIDOG fair, for adoption of dogs and cats. According to data from the BH Municipal Department of Health, the state capital currently has more than 30,000 dogs and cats on the streets. The number grows every year, not only because their numbers increase due to reproduction, but also because of abandonment.
