Investment in ParkShoppingCanoas surroundings is R$ 19 million

The residents of Canoas will receive a gift from Multiplan on September 25: the expansion of the Getúlio Vargas Municipal Park in front of the future ParkShoppingCanoas. The company invested R$ 19 million in the project. The Park will have a dancing-water fountain, children's entertainment area, gymnastic equipment and LED lighting. In the immediate surroundings, Multiplan also is delivering two-way urban roadways, in addition to new signage.

To celebrate, the company organized an event for the community, starting at 2:30 p.m. at the site.  During the festivities, spectators will be introduced to the dancing waters show, with synchronized sound and lighting, similar to those found in large international entertainment centers. The German equipment uses 35 separate fountains with water jetting up to 10 m in synchronization with music. In addition, at night, the system combines shafts of colored lights with the dancing fountains.

"Multiplan's premise is to enchant our customers, to make a visit to our malls very pleasurable. In recent years, we realized that this goes beyond the corridors of the mall and increasingly we are investing in the surroundings of our projects so that residents of the region and those who want to get to know the mall have a total experience with their families and friends, both inside and outside," explains Jose Isaac Perez, president of the company.

In the 28,000-m2 Getúlio Vargas Park, Multiplan is delivering a number of attractions for the entire family, such as children's entertainment and furnished recreational spaces, including a maze, exercise equipment for adults and a walking trail. There also is an amphitheater for artistic presentations with capacity for 400 people. The investment in the new Park totaled R$ 13 million, more than originally agreed with the city.

The site was improved with the addition of a 7,000-m² artificial lake with decks, and a terrace with water access. The area was newly landscaped with native vegetation and all public lighting is through LED bulbs. Three photovoltaic installations provide self-sustaining night lighting. Multiplan donated a Security Center equipped with cameras and a communications room, plus two quadricycles to enhance safety in the Park.

Besides the Park, the surrounding area was completely reurbanized and Avenida Dr. Sezefredo Azambuja Vieira and Avenida Farroupilha were duplicated. The company also is installing new signage and traffic lights to organize traffic.

The Event

The inauguration of the work was planned for two moments: a 4:30 p.m. event for authorities, merchants and guests, also with an opportunity to visit an already completed part of ParkShoppingCanoas; and a 7:00 p.m. event when Mayor Jairo Jorge and Multiplan's CEO were to speak and unveil a commemorative plaque, followed by the dedication of the dancing-water fountains display.

The Park was to be open to the community as of 2:30 p.m., with a team of animators and clowns to amuse kids. Visitors also were to be entertained at night, with the premiere of the dancing waters show and presentations by the Ulbra Chamber Orchestra and Renato Borghetinho.

The main national anchor stores already are present, such as Renner, Lojas Americanas, Riachuelo, Ri Happy and Paquetá Esportes. Among notable brands are the Zaffari Hypermarket; Forever 21, an American fast fashion chain that today has a single store in Porto Alegre in BarraShoppingSul and 15 others around Brazil; Multisom; Samsung; LG; Panvel; Camicado; Swarowski and L' Occitane. The new mall will also contain restaurant operations like Outback SteakHouse, Galeto Mamma Mia, Petiskeira and Pizza Hut. The cinemas are operated by UCI Cinemas and the project will feature a modern fitness center, the 2,150 m² Smart Fit academy, an innovative chain that customizes training programs at affordable prices even for expectant mothers and seniors.

ParkShoppingCanoas will also have an unprecedented, permanent 750 m² ice skating rink located in an area served by a number of food and beverage options.

Another novelty for the city included in the mall's offerings is a 3,000-m2   Multipurpose Event Center with capacity for 1,200 people and flexibility to host shows, fairs, festivals, and other large public events.

Work on the mall started in 2014 and currently is in the reinforced concrete stage of construction development. The shopping center is located next to the lovely and lushly vegetated Getúlio Vargas Park in the Marechal Rondon neighborhood, on Avenida Farroupilha, corner of Dr. Sezefredo Azambuja Vieira, anchoring a new development axis of the city. The opening is planned for 2017.

The project was designed with massive use of natural light through huge glass panels facing the Park, along with convenience areas and a variety of leisure options.

ParkShopping Canoas will make a significant contribution to the municipality.  In addition to the investment in the project itself and the surrounding areas, the Mall is generating about 1,000 direct jobs during its construction phase and will create more than 2,000 direct and 3,000 indirect jobs after opening.
