Brazil for the first time receives the photographic exhibition "50 Greatest Photographs of National Geographic" which has wowed audiences in a number of different countries. The show stays at MorumbiShopping until August 9, presenting the stories of some of the most memorable clicks of the last century. The publication, which has been inspiring people to care about their planet since 1888 with reports and research on the environment, science, geography and history, has pulled together unforgettable images from its archives, such as the world famous Afghan girl photographed by Steve McCurry in a refugee camp and British anthropologist Jane Goodall working with chimpanzees, snapped by Michael Nichols.

This attraction is part of the celebration of 125th anniversary of National Geographic and has visited cities such as Berlin, Las Vegas and Prague. Brazilians participate in this commemorative year by discovering the back-stories behind the photos and the professionals responsible for each work. The images allow viewers to take a trip around the world in different eras: the oldest is dated 1965 and shows a panoramic view of thousands of Muslim pilgrims in the holy city of Mecca during Ramadan, taken by Thomas Abercrombie. Among the more recent pieces is another impressive photo by Michael Nichols, who built a climbing system to photograph a giant sequoia (about 100 meters high) and at least 1,500 years old - it took 84 images to "build" the final image. To show the magnitude of the tree, beyond the image on display, the picture will be displayed in a special size and exhibited on a 7m banner inside the mall.

The exhibition is free to the public, with texts and maps accompanying the pictures and recalling the legacy of each photo. "We believe in bringing this exhibition to Brazil because it can be enjoyed by people of all different ages. The images convey important messages about world history, preservation of nature and the importance of respect among peoples, so we believe it will be a good outing for the entire family. We'll keep it on display until Father's Day to reinforce it as an attraction that can be enjoyed by parents and children," said Katia Ardito Gandini, MorumbiShopping marketing manager.

Visitors to the show can record the event in a totem of instant snapshots that will be assembled as if they were on the cover of National Geographic Magazine. The game can be shared on social networks at #natgeonomorumbishopping.
