Cariocas' preferences remain true. According to the Cariocas' Brands Survey 2019 ("Marcas do Cariocas"), BarraShopping has once again been awarded the title of “most admired Project” by city residents of Rio. It is the 10th time that the mall has been named champion in this category, remaining unbeaten since the Research publication began in 2010.

In the survey, conducted by the newspaper O GLOBO in partnership with Troiano Branding, the participants evaluated the following  features of the malls: quality, price, respect for the consumer, identity ("suits me") and evolution ("is always changing and renewing"). A pioneering project in Barra da Tijuca, the mall continues to attract visitors from all over the city, receiving about 100,000 people per day. Gabriel Palumbo, Multiplan's regional director in Rio de Janeiro, believes that this recognition demonstrates the affection that customers have shown in response to the dedication we have shown them.

“This is the result of BarraShopping's 38-year special relationship with Rio de Janeiro. During this time, the mall underwent seven expansions and became one of the largest centers of consumption, services and tourism in Latin America, influencing and strengthening the development of Barra da Tijuca and making the region an economic powerhouse for the city”, said Palumbo. “Customers consider BarraShopping to be an extension of their own homes.”

The key word for customer loyalty is convenience. This year alone, 36 new stores were opened, an increase of 12% over last year. More than just shopping and services, BarraShopping is constantly innovating by creating entertainment options for the whole family, such as the recently opened a Park Dog for family pets and an outdoor playground with playground equipment for children up to 12 years old, both with free admission. As a way of rewarding the cariocas' affection and preference, this year, the mall maintained its tradition and inaugurated a 70-meter-high Rio de Janeiro Christmas Tree (equivalent to a 23-story building).
