Multiplan launches an innovative project in Rio de Janeiro. ParkJacarepaguá, the company's 20th mall, is being built in a region with 620,000 inhabitants, an area lacking in projects of this size and standards. Following an unprecedented concept, ParkJacarepaguá will introduce a new consumption and entertainment experience, as well as being born fully integrated with nature. Highlights include a Green Park, a deck overlooking Tijuca National Park, a permanent ice skating rink, six movie theaters, HotZone, Supermarket, Events Center, Boulevard Gourmet area and a complete mix of stores. The new mall will also generate 12,000 direct and indirect jobs and bring even more development to the region.

ParkJacarepaguá is being built with the same concept and technology already used by the company at ParkShopping Canoas, in Rio Grande do Sul, internationally recognized as the best shopping mall in Latin America. There will be approximately 38,000 m² of gross leasable area and 102,000 m² of constructed area. With its inauguration scheduled for May 2020, it will serve a population that longs for services, commerce and high standards of leisure.

Among the 249 stores planned are 11 anchors and megastores, a supermarket, a multi-purpose events center with 1,900 m² and capacity to receive up to 800 people, six stadium movie theaters, indoor amusement park of 1,000 m², HotZone, eight restaurants, besides a large food court with 29 operations and about 2,000 parking spaces, of which 600 are covered. ParkJacarepaguá will be the first Multiplan mall in Rio de Janeiro to have an international standard permanent ice skating rink measuring 480 m².

The Boulevard Gourmet will be a diversified area of gastronomy, with eight restaurants distributed in indoor and outdoor areas, reproducing the street atmosphere. The client can choose between eating in an air-conditioned environment or overlooking the park.

In the outdoor area, the development will have a green area of 6,000 m², illuminated and integrated with the mall, called Green Park: a comfortable and safe space that will allow direct contact with nature. The park will feature a large lawn, playground and pergola offering shade for relaxation, as well as its own furnishings. On the 3rd floor, there will be a deck with an area of 3,200 m², with bars and restaurant overlooking the green space.

The mall is being built on a plot of approximately 95,000 m² and will feature unique and innovative architecture. The environments were designed from the most modern sustainable technologies, aiming at condominial efficiency through reduction in operating and maintenance costs.

The project will have a rainwater reuse and effluent treatment systems, vessel discharge sensors, automatic faucets designed for better use of water, high energy-savings air conditioning and solar panel installations. All these characteristics already have led ParkJacarepaguá to qualify to receive the LEED pre-certification seal of approval, which recognizes the project's high sustainability standards.

The neighborhoods of Barra da Tijuca, Campo Grande, Recreio and Jacarepaguá make up the region with the largest potential of consumption in the country, with a purchasing power of R$ 12 billion/year. Real estate expansion in the region began in the late 1970s, starting at Barra and then moving into Recreio and Campo Grande, and more recently to Jacarepaguá.

Multiplan has been a pioneer in this development. With the inauguration of BarraShopping in 1981, it began the creation of a network of shopping malls and real estate developments that changed the lives of the region's residents. With NewYorkCityCenter and VillageMall, the largest multi-purpose complex in Latin America has been formed.  Also in the West Zone, in Campo Grande, the company built the ParkShoppingCampoGrande, a modern enterprise that has been boosting the valuation of the region and bringing to its residents previously unavailable restaurants, shops and entertainment.

Now, ParkJacarepaguá will offer the neighborhood a shopping center that is at the height of its grandeur. Despite its size and importance, the neighborhood today still is not served by a large shopping mall infrastructure. There is only 0.06m² of mall gross leasable area per inhabitant, a number well below the neighboring Barra da Tijuca. With the inauguration of ParkJacarepaguá, the 620,000 residents of the region will have a Multiplan shopping mall within their neighborhood, as well as several improvements to the surroundings, such as the re-urbanization of the Julio Sass Plaza, the duplication of part of the Estrada do Engenho D`Água, the improvements to road junctions on the Estrada de Jacarepaguá, Rua Ituverava, Av. Tenente Coronel Muniz Aragão and Estrada do Engenho D`Água, all works that will greatly enhance urbanization and mobility in the region. The implementation of these works and improvements in the surroundings depends on the approval of a specific project that is being analyzed by the appropriate authorities.
