Association will allow shopkeepers in the malls to also operate as Distribution Centers
Multiplan and Delivery Center are announcing an association that will add to shopping center stores the possibility to also act as e-commerce delivery centers, marketplaces and other digital channels. The operation will give the technology company access to the network of users in the malls and to the tenants established in Multiplan’s projects.
The agreement provides for exclusivity in the operation and installation of delivery centers in the 18 shopping centers currently managed by the Company, in addition to an investment of R$ 12 million, through which Multiplan will come to own 18.79% of the capital stock of Delivery Center Holding S.A. ("Delivery Center"). Completion of the operation is subject to compliance with regulatory conditions.
The investment will allow the shopping centers to participate more actively in electronic retail transactions, a channel that in 2018 had turnover of approximately R$ 53.2 billion in sales, according to eBit. The partnership with the Delivery Center will allow the integration of the logistics operation with the initiatives developed by Multiplan's Digital Innovations team (MIND), promoting gains in scale and a better quality of service to Multiplan’s customers and shopkeepers.
The business will also enable brands to start using their subsidiaries as distribution centers for their own e-commerce operations and/or via marketplaces through Delivery Center. The change leads to greater agility and lower costs for the retailers, optimizing their inventories and making express deliveries possible.
